I’m part of a Mastermind Group that usually meets once a month but in these strange times we have been meeting, online, once a week.

We’ve been giving each other updates of where our businesses are, what troubles we have, honest feedback on marketing ideas and providing ideas on alternative income streams.

Today, one of the guys, who’s business has come to a near standstill, gave me a lightbulb moment that I need to share with you! He said that he’d made a list of “all the things that he would regret not doing while he has the time”.

While I’ve been supporting clients, I’d been trying to explain to some that having this downtime, as a business owner, is a great opportunity to look at the business and to see how they can do things better.

I hear a lot of business owners say they are too busy working in their business to work on it – well Coronavirus has given you a perfect opportunity to work on it!!

Now it the time to look at your customer journey and really scrutinise it, look at the way things have been happening for years in the business that now, maybe due to new technology or better understanding of your client it could be done in a much smoother way.

Now is the time to look at your website, it has probably evolved over time, are there any old links that are now obsolete, can you improve the information on the site to be more user friendly? Can you add a video or ten now you have time to record them?

Now is the time to look at the way you communicate with your potential clients.  Can you make the transition easier, are there any barriers you can pull down to make a sale more likely?

Now is the perfect time to make sure that when these uncertain times pass, which they will – everything does, so you are not the one in your industry saying we shoulda, coulda, woulda done all those improvements that keep you from offering perfect customer service .  Ask yourself “What is it that you would regret not doing while you have this quieter time?”

Be ready …. Be prepared … to be exceptional .. because I’m sure if you don’t, your competition will!

Stay Safe
